"I had just turned 5 and I asked my mom about it. “Do people just get old forever?” i asked that exact question. She then explained that things die eventually and that nothing was permanent. I remember not sleeping well for weeks after that and having bad dreams about things dying. Then, one day around 6 weeks after the news was broken, my sister asked if she could join into the teaparty I was having with my dolls. Now, being the smart and reasonable toddler I was, I told her no because “I don’t see the point in making friends with something living because they’ll just die and leave me here all alone forever.” I cried for the rest of the day. I was a dark 5 year old."

God there is a baby here and he is can’t-quite-walk-but-can-talk-very-well age and they have these big pictures of cars on the walls beside the booths and when he noticed them he walked up to the wall and put his hands on it and said “mum it’s a racing car” about fifteen times then burst into tears so she hugged him and asked why he was upset and he just said “I love them”
